Zusammenfassung
Als „Gallenfarbstoffe“ oder „Biline“ (engl. „bile pigments“) werden hier Verbindungen bezeichnet, die dasselbe Grundgerüst besitzen wie Bilirubin (1), der Hauptfarbstoff in der Galle des Menschen und der Wirbeltiere: Sie bestehen aus vier „Pyrrol“ringen, die über drei EinKohlenstoff-Brücken miteinander verknüpft sind. Die äußeren Ringe enthalten Sauerstoff-Funktionen; sie besitzen Pyrrolon- (2) oder davon abgeleitete Strukturen. Die inneren Ringe sind echte Pyrrol- (3) oder Pyrrolenin (4)-Ringe.
