Wall Attachment Amplifier
The wall attachment amplifier makes use of the entrainment characteristics of a submerged fluid stream. Fig. 1 shows a subsonic jet diffusing as it issues from anozzle. The effects of a fluid stream flowing between boundary walls and emerging into a similar medium are shown in Fig. 2 (see page 12). The issuing jet entrains some of the surrounding fluid, lowering the pressure in the zone between the stream and the boundary walls, inducing a flow from the higher pressure region beyond the opening to maintain equilibrium.
