Applications of the Masonry Unilateral Model to the Limit Analysis of Buildings Loaded by Horizontal Forces

Abstract

The Paper firstly recalls the unilateral elastic model of the masonry material and the formulation of the limit analysis theory of the masonry structures.

In this framework the collapse load of multistory masonry walls and of masonry buildings, loaded by gradually increasing horizontal forces, are given.
