Practical Examples

A great variety of practical examples are presented which demonstrate the wide applicability of the summation theorems to problems of structural stability. After three simple examples several more complex problems are discussed involving columns, plates, frames, arches, in which these theorems can be usefully applied. Finally, practical problems associated with the stiffening of buildings and the lateral stability of beams are treated.
