Equations of motion collections of substructures

Abstract

As noted in Section 2.1, modern spacecraft are often idealized as collections of substructures, each of which might be idealized in a wide variety of ways. In Section 2.3 on substructure equations, it was assumed in order to focus that the substructure was a finite element system and the adjacent body was rigid, but this is a very special case. The procedure to be followed in developing equations for systems of substructures depends very much on the substructure models. Various approaches will be outlined here without detailed development.
