Large and complex structures need system analysis based on drawings and also system identification for investigation of the dynamic behaviour and qualification of the structure. This is realized by substructure handling and synthesis techniques. This means the partitioning of the structure into several substructures, analysis and/or testing the substructures, and coupling them to the whole structure using substructure results. Advantages and disadvantages are to be found in the previous lecture or in Craig and Chang.1
