3-D Kinematic and Kinetic Analysis of G-Slalom at Valbadia Cup-Race in 2002

Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the kinematic and kinetic structure of giant slalom performance in elite skiers during normal competitions. In order to produce kinematic three-dimensional variables, video shots were used and elaborated by DLT method. Instantaneous radius of the path described by the center of gravity (CG) of the skier was calculetd. Knowing the mass of the skiers and the centripetal acceleration, it was possible to evaluate the centripetal reaction force acting on the CG. Comparison of the kinematic structure of limb’s movements with the actually velocity of CG was made.
