Application of Polymer Gel to Micro-Actuator

The gel of super absorbent Polymers as Polyacrylic Sodium Resin absorbs the water by 2,000 ~ 3,000 times of the material itself in volume and the water can be transferred around the cathode by electric current, then the gel is deformed as thick around the cathode and thin around the anode. For using the deformation to the actuators the following studies have been done. (1)Fundamental equations that express the progress of the deformation were induced. (2)Three kinds of application to a)on surface traveling worm, b)in tube traveling worm and c)rotary actuator “gel motor” will be introduced. (3)About the water flow inside and around the gel was investigated for discussing the possibility of using the flow to the power sources of microacutuators.
