Modelling of Piezoelectric Actuators in Shells, Plates and Beams

Abstract

This lecture describes models to represent the interactions between piezoceramic actuators and elastic structures in the form of cylindrical shells, plates and beams. The piezo loads are determined in terms of material properties of the actuator and structure, the geometry of the actuator placement. and the applied actuator voltages. Also, a review on the current research in finite element models of the electromechanical coupling is presented.
