Abstract

This paper regards the world quality project in the area of surveying. Standards ISO 9000 and EN 45000 define a new common language and recognize elements that qualify each operation and organization. In the ambience of “Quality System at Politecnico of Milan” the “Laboratorio Gino Cassinis” determines operating precision of surveying equipment.

Standard deviations was chosen as a meaningful value for accuracy for levels, theodolites, optical diastimeters and EDM. Measures have to be repeated using particullary procedures, following schemes specific to each instruments.

Lastly are reported some critical remarks about the contents of DIN 18723 standards, used to define the instrumental standard deviation.
