Abstract

In this work the authors tackle the problem of the optimal parameters definition in chip removal processes using a constraint programming approach; the reference process is the multiphase turning. The developed models allow to find the optimal values of the feed and cutting speed; the analysis has been extended in order to consider the influence of the tool reliability. The paper highlights the schemes that has been followed in the formulation of the problem; the results gained with the developed models are then compared with those available in literature obtained with other programming techniques. Models implementation has been realized in C++ using an high level constraint programming tool.
