Unipolar Injection in Planar Geometry: Linear, Nonlinear and Transient Instabilities

Abstract

For the problem of unipolar injection into an insulating fluid, the question of hydrodynamic instability arises in the three cases where the geometry of electrodes is of high symmetry: plane and parallel plates, co-axial cylinders and concentric spheres. It implies that the density of injected charge is uniform on the injecting electrode.
