Abstract

In the context of this paper the results of grinding and the subsequent use of basic and complex cutting tools such as drills should be acquired. Apart from investigating the grinding of cemented carbides, tools manufactured from cermet are also be included in the studies. In order to determine the thermal and mechanical stresses on the cutting material when tools are ground, the finite element method is employed. This involves demonstrating connections between the grinding of tools on different conditions and the later wear behaviour of the tools when in use.
