Obwohl der Planet Pluto bereits in einer Entfernung von etwa 40 astronomischen Einheiten von der Sonne seine Bahn zieht, gibt es noch eine Anzahl kleiner Körper, die Kometen, welche ebenfalls Mitglieder unseres Sonnensystems sind und vielfach Bahnen mit einem Aphel von weit über 40 AE aufweisen.
