Abstract

Since the introduction of microvascular surgery, this technique has gained ground in the various medical disciplines. In neurosurgery, reconstructive vascular surgery is difficult because of the vulnerability of the central nervous system. Thus only extra-intracranial anastomosis has gained major importance. Perspectives, on the basis of this method, are as follows:
  1. 1.

further improvement of preoperative diagnostic techniques so that an accurate indication for this operation can be determined,

  2. 2.

refinement of the surgical technique itself,

  3. 3.

application of this method in other central nervous system locations.
