Abstract
Dragonflies and damselflies comprise one of the eldest orders of insects; moreover, their appearance remained almost unaltered for as many as 150 million years. They have about 5,000 species inhabiting the terrestrial habitats all over the world except for the arctic regions. These insects play a significant role in the cycle of materials both in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
