Die Bildungsgeschichte — heute oft auch als historische Bildungsforschung bezeichnet — befasst sich im Schnittpunkt zwischen Geschichtswissenschaft und Erziehungswissenschaft mit den Veränderungen des Bildungswesens im Blickfeld des historisch-gesellschaftlichen Wandels. Helmut Engelbrecht analysierte in mehr als 160 Publikationen zahlreiche Aspekte der historischen Entwicklung von Erziehung, Unterricht und Schule in Österreich. Seine fünfbändige „Geschichte des österreichischen Bildungswesens“ gilt als Standardwerk von internationalem Rang.

Abstract

Educational history — often also called historical educational research -focuses on the linkage between the humanities and educational sciences in regards to changes in education in the context of historical-social change. Helmut Engelbrecht has analyzed numerous aspects of the historical development of parenting, teaching and school in Austria in more than 160 publications. His five- volume work the “History of the Austrian Education” is an internationally recognized standard.
