Seescheiden gehören — wie die Menschen — zu den Chordatieren, die alle in bestimmten Entwicklungsstadien dieselben Organe aufweisen, wie eine elastische Stütze im Rückenbereich, aus der sich bei Wirbeltieren die Wirbelsäule entwickelt. Im Larvenstadium ist die Seescheide fast vollständig mit dem Embryo der Wirbeltiere ident.

Abstract

Tunicates — like humans — belong to the chordates: They all exhibit the same organs in certain stages of their life, such as an elastic support in the back area from which the spine develops in the case of vertebrates. In the larval stage, the tunicate is almost identical with the embryo of vertebrate.
