Zusammenfassung
Die fibröse Dysplasie ist eine Erkrankung des Knochenumbaus, die insbesondere auch die Schädelbasis befallen kann. Sie ist u.a. durch eine langsame Progredienz mit selbst limitierendem Charakter gekennzeichnet. Die Patienten leiden im Verlauf der Erkrankung häufig unter kosmetischen Deformitäten, funktionellen Einschränkungen der Hirnnerven, der Muskulatur oder der Nasenatmung sowie unter daraus resultierenden Schmerzen. Aus dieser Symptomatik ergeben sich besondere Erfordernisse für die Therapie der fibrösen Dysplasie der Schädelbasis.
