Abstract

In order to discuss about the origin and history of polyurethanes, I should start with the history of the diisocyanates. Before year 1850,Wurtz and Hoffman prepared and investigated the properties of both aromatic and aliphatic diisocyanates. Yet, the development of real interest in these raw materialswas discouraged at the time because of the difficulty in the original preparatory methods.
