Rauchsäulen an den Ein- und Ausfahrtsstraßen Die Ölkatastrophe im Golf von Mexiko sorgt derzeit für Schlagzeilen in der Weltpresse. Damit ist ein Thema in den Mittelpunkt gerückt, das zentral für unsere Gesellschaft ist: der Zusammenhang zwischen Erdöl und Ausbeutung von Ressourcen. Ein Zusammenhang, der auch das Projekt Real Energy World/ Niger Delta mit Fotoarbeiten des nigerianischen Fotografen George Osodi, aufgenommen im Nigerdelta, und einer Videowall mit einem Video von Lars Johansson maßgeblich bestimmt. George Osodi und Lars Johansson thematisierten 2009 auf öffentlichen Werbefächen in Graz die verheerende Wirkung der Erdölproduktion — als Teil der von Hans Nevidal und Eva Ursprung kuratierten Ausstellung Real Energy World/Niger Delta im Forum Stadtpark.

Abstract

Smoke Columns on Access Roads The oil catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico is currently making headlines in the international press. It has also caused many to focus on a theme that is central to the way our society functions: the connection between oil and the exploitation of resources. This is a connection that has also had a decisive infuence on the project Real Energy World/Niger Delta, which features photos taken in the Niger Delta by the Nigerian photographer George Osodi and a video by Lars Johansson projected on an outside video wall. In 2009 Osodi and Johansson used a number of billboards in Graz to draw attention to the disastrous effects wrought by oil production — as part of an exhibition in the Forum Stadtpark curated by Hans Nevidal and Eva Ursprung, also entitled Real Energy World/Niger Delta.
