Abstract

“Today we are learning the language in which God created life.“ These were the words used by Bill Clinton on June 26, 2000, to mark the successful completion of the Human Genome Project at an international press conference. And, indeed, pathos and euphoria do not seem inappropriate when characterizing an achievement of exploration that can be compared with the discovery of America or man’s first steps on the moon.
