Abstract

In terms of both societal and urban planning, the automobile can be seen as one of the most influential developments of the past one hundred years. It has also been a central point of reference in the concepts of architects, urban planners and engineers. Thus new types of infrastructure have been developed around the automobile, and the appearance of our cities has changed accordingly.
