Dieses Kapitel beschäftigt sich besonders mit den Labormethoden, die zur Abklärung von Erkrankungen aus dem rheumatologischen Formenkreis (Tabelle 16.1) dienen. Die Aufgabe des Labors ist die Feststellung von pathologischen Veränderungen, die entweder spezifisch (z.B. Autoantikörper) oder unspezifisch (z.B. Entzündungsparameter) für die Erkrankung sind. Die erhobenen Befunde sollen dem Spezialisten ermöglichen, sowohl die Diagnose zu festigen, als auch eine Prognose über den Verlauf der Krankheit stellen.
