Abstract

This tiny fragment of gold was found in Crete and acquired by the British Museum in 1875. Marshall 1911:382 describes the piece as follows: “Part of a gold band, broken away on either side ... the letters in the upper line are much heavier than those in the lower. “ Only a facsimile of the piece was published, which we reproduce below. Its exact find-spot in Crete is not given; see on 44, to follow.
