Zusammenfassung
Eine Produktionsfunktion gibt den quantitativen Zusammenhang zwischen den zur Leistungserstellung einzusetzenden Produktionsfaktormengen und der Ausbringung (Ertrag) an1,2. Bei Produktionsfunktionen mußes sich nicht um Funktionen im mathematischen Sinne handeln. Produktionsfunktionen sind häufig Relationen, d.h., es ist nicht zwingend, daßeinem bestimmten Faktoreinsatz nur eine bestimmte Ausbringung zugeordnet ist; z. B. sind in der Gutenbergfunktion Fälle denkbar, wo der gleiche Faktoreinsatz je nach Kombination der Anpassungsparameter (Intensität und Einsatzzeit eines Aggregates) zu unterschiedlichen Ausbringungsmengen führt.

Die Ertragsfunktion (24.11) wird nur aus didaktischen Gründen zur Vereinfachung der Analyse unterstellt. Sie ist nicht aus der Ertragsfunktion (24.2) mit α1+α2-β=1 bei α1 >1 sowie α2>1 abzuleiten. Im Gegensatz zur Funktion (24.2) ist die Funktion (24.11) nicht linear-homogen. Bei Funktion (24.2) kann es aufgrund der Linearhomogenität bei positiven Einsatzmengen der beiden Faktoren niemals zu negativen Ausbringungsmengen kommen. In Funktion (24.11) wird die Ausbringung jedoch bei hinreichend großem r1 negativ, d.h. Funktion (24.11) gehört nicht zur Klasse linearhomogener Funktionen. Die Funktion (24.11) kann jedoch bis kurz hinter das Ertragsmaximum als gute Annäherung an den Typ des Ertragsverlaufs angesehen werden, der sich aus der Funktion (24.2) im Falle α1+α2-β=1 mit α1>1 sowie α2>2 ergeben würde-s-förmiger-Ertragsverlauf-. Die exakte aus (24.2) mit den Zusatzbedingungen über die Exponenten abzuleitende Ertragsfunktion weist nach dem Maximum erneut einen Wendepunkt auf und der Ertrag strebt bei r1 →∞ und konstantem r gegen Null.
