Zusammenfassung

Höhere Hirnleistungen sind diejenigen Funktionen des Gehirns, die nicht unmittelbar sensorisch oder motorisch sind und nicht der Homöostase dienen. Es handelt sich also z.B. um Leistungen der Sprache, des Handelns, des Erkennens und des Gedächtnisses. Ihre Phänomenologie ist Forschungsgegenstand der Philosophie, der Psychologie, der Linguistik und der Neurologie als medizinischer Wissenschaft vom Nervensystem. Neuropsychologie, Neurolinguistik und Verhaltensneurologie versuchen, die funktionale Basis höherer Hirnleistungen aufzuklären.
