Zusammenfassung
Häufige Ursachen des Scheiterns von Metrikprogrammen sind übertriebene technische Erwartungen, vor allem bezüglich Genauigkeit und Automatisierbarkeit. Oft sind diese gepaart mit einer generellen Ablehnung von Softwaremetriken bei der internen EDV Leitung.
Softwaremetriken werden vor allem von Multinationalen Großfirmen seit 8 Jahren eingesetzt. Erfolgreiche Programme ermitteln regelmäßig Kontrolldaten, die in das allgemeine Berichtswesen des Unternehmens einfließen und Grundlagen für Entscheidungsprozesse bilden. Gemessen werden vor allem Größen wie Aufwand, Umfang und Fehler von Software. Die Metrikprogramme werden typischerweise von einem breiten Personenkreis getragen, und die Zahlenerfassung ist nicht vollständig automatisiert. Meßdaten werden aber in Datenbanken gespeichert.
Metrikprogramme haben immer dann gute Erfolgsaussichten, wenn sie im Unternehmen wie andere, bereits bestehende, Betriebsdatenerfassungssysteme aufgebaut und betrieben werden.
