Zusammenfassung
Nach dem Periodischen System schließen diese Metalle an die Gruppe Gallium, Indium, Thallium an. Mit zwei s- und zwei p-Valenzelektronen stehen sie nur noch vier Stellen vor einem Edelgas. Sie gehören in die Hauptgruppe als Homologe von Kohlenstoff und Silicium, zu denen das Germanium deutlich die Brücke bildet. Dementsprechend bilden alle Elemente flüchtige Hydride.
