Abstract

Many small-scale hydroelectric power projects have failed already in the design stage because of insufficient means to purchase the electrical equipment (generator and controls). Unlike the mechanical (turbine) and the civil engineering components of an Mhp, generators are still rarely manufactured in developing countries and importing such equipment is often beyond the capacity of a local project.
