Summary

The near field of a plane jet is simulated by direct resolution of 2-D incompressible unsteady Navier-Stokes equations, using primitive variables, for Reynolds numbers Rd= 1000, 1700. This simulation predicts correctly the physical flow, in the potential region, including the instability process, the vortex apparition and its evolution and the jet parameters variation. It enables to investigate the flow by simultaneous analysis of the streaklines pattern and the temporal signals.
