Globalisierung als Galton-Problem

Vergleichende politikwissenschaftliche Methoden

Zusammenfassung

Globalisierung ist einer der populärsten Begriffe der gegenwärtigen Politik und Politikwissenschaft (Waters 1995; Busch/Plümper 1999; Genschel 2003). Dabei wird Globalisierung aber oftmals nicht präzise definiert und ist nicht selten mit normativen Inhalten geladen (Wiesenthal 1996; Busch 1999). Für den einen stellt Globalisierung neue Marktchancen dar, die zudem den eher unterentwickelten Ländern die Teilhabe an modernen Technologien und sozialen Errungenschaften garantieren. Für andere werden nationale Identitäten zerstört und ärmere Regionen werden zu Gunsten reicher Nationen ausgebeutet. Globalisierung kann — relativ wertfrei — als ein Prozess aufgefasst werden, der dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass Impulse aus unterschiedlichen Regionen der Welt internationale Konsequenzen nach sich ziehen, auf welche die jeweils nationalen Akteure eingehen bzw. an die sie sich anpassen müssen.
