Abstract
Anti-monopoly policies and regulations as they exist today in Slovakia are the result of several years of legal and economic development following the “Velvet Revolution” in 1989. The transition process from a centrally-planned economy to a market economy was associated with some specific issues which have directly or indirectly influenced the creation and shape of economic competition, including the enforcement of competition law and the policy for the protection of competition. The fact that the acceptance of rules for economic competition, their quality and their strict implementation have a positive impact on a competitive order is beyond doubt. Economic competition requires uniform and adequate implementation of anti-trust policies as well as other economic policies.
