Politische Parteien und demokratische Konsolidierung in Südeuropa

Zusammenfassung

Die Rolle der politischen Parteien in den Regimeübergängen ist für Südeuropa von allen transitions sicherlich am besten untersucht: in Länderstudien, Monographien über einzelne Parteien und in vergleichender Analyse1. Auch über Stellenwert und Funktion der Parteien in den Prozessen demokratischer Konsolidierung liegen inzwischen für den südeuropäischen Raum eine ganze Reihe sorgfältiger und gründlicher Untersuchungen vor, die insbesondere die Möglichkeiten des Vergleichs intensiver genutzt haben als die früheren Arbeiten und deutlich machen, daß wir, auch auf der Basis voraufgehender monographischer Forschung, relativ am meisten über die Parteien in Spanien und Griechenland wissen, weniger über die Entwicklung der italienischen Parteien seit den späten 40er Jahren und am wenigsten über die portugiesischen Konstellationen2. Es mag lohnen, an dieser Stelle auch im Vergleich zu den Entwicklungen in Mittel- und Osteuropa, in Lateinamerika und im asiatischen Raum die Erkenntnisse über den Zusammenhang von Parteien, Parteiensystemen und demokratischer Konsolidierung in Südeuropa etwas systematischer zusammenzufassen, wobei der begrenzte Raum zu thesenhaften Verkürzungen zwingen wird3.
