Die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika sind der Prototyp einer suburbanen Gesellschaft. Suburbanisierung hat die Kultur, die soziale und wirtschaftliche Struktur des Landes sowie die Lebensweise seiner Bürger und ihre Vorstellungen von einem guten Leben durchgreifender geprägt als in anderen Ländern.
