Zusammenfassung

„We sit and we have always sat at the crossroads in Europe ... If the labour movement borrowed many features from abroad, that does not make it un-Dutch. On the contrary, I view this ability to absorb as a typical Dutch characteristic, at least to the extent that the labour movement refashioned the borrowed elements into an entity which, as an entity, carried a specific Dutch imprint.“ (Rüter 1946: 185; zit. nach Windmuller 1969: 40).
