Zusammenfassung
Wenn auch der Substanzkonsum ein traditionelles Feld der Risikoverhaltensforschung bei Jugendlichen ist, herrscht hinsichtlich der Definition von Substanzgebrauch, -missbrauch und -abhängigkeit im Jugendalter noch immer Unsicherheit (Hays/Ellickson 1996). Deshalb gehen wir zuerst auf die Abgrenzung von Gebrauch und Missbrauch psychoaktiver Substanzen ein, bevor Angaben zur Verbreitung und zu den wichtigsten Folgen für altersgerechte Entwicklung und psychosoziale Gesundheit diskutiert werden. Aus theoretischer Sicht wird dann die entwicklungsspezifische Funktion des Konsums von Alkohol und illegalen Substanzen beschrieben und Studien zur empirischen Gültigkeit dieser Perspektive angeführt. Abschließend werden Implikationen für Präventionsansätze und erfolgreiche Beispiele der entwicklungsorientierten Suchtprävention dargestellt.
