Zusammenfassung
Die Soziologie könnte besser auf die Beobachtung der aktuellen Veränderungen im Bereich der telekommunikativen Medien und vor allem der computervermittelten Kommunikation vorbereitet sein, als sie es gegenwärtig ist. Mit diesem Befund ist nicht gemeint, dass sie sich an der Forschung zu diesem Thema nicht ausreichend beteiligt hätte. Vielmehr fällt auf, dass der Vielzahl an Einzelforschungen keine vergleichbare kognitive Zentralisierungsanstrengung gegenübersteht, mit der das unübersichtliche Wissen auf diesem Gebiet zusammengeführt und Möglichkeiten der interdisziplinären Anregung geprüft werden könnten.
