Abstract
According to Section I-3.1 we have to consider boundary-value problems, but we must not expect that the existence problems can be settled easily. In Section II-1.5 it was shown that we cannot obtain a normal form even in the case of two independent variables since it is necessary to have an existence proof for Beltrami’s differential equation for this. Hence we have to renounce any normal form. On the other hand, without additional difficulties we can carry out our considerations immediately for n variables.
