Summary

A waverider configuration named DLR-F8 has been investigated in incompressible flow both experimentally and numerically. A complex vortex system with primary, secondary and fuselage vortex has been found and a strong interaction between fuselage and primary vortex exists. In the primary vortex centre low velocities have been found surrounded by a region with high velocities above and beneath the vortex axis. The flow characteristics on this configuration are well predicted by the solution of the Navier-Stokes equations.

The investigations in this paper have been supported by the DFG under grant Hu 254/15
