Abstract
The following paper deals with social interactions of TV viewers with people on the screen, so-called „parasocial interactions“ (Horton & Wohl 1956). It presents the results of an empirical study, which is embedded into a broader research program concerning the social and emotional dimensions of TV viewing behavior. This research field is one of the areas of special interest at the Institute of Communication Psychology and Media Education at the University of Koblenz-Landau.
