Zusammenfassung
Die Zukunft vieler Nonprofit-Organisationen hängt von der Qualität der ehrenamtlichen Vorstandsarbeit ab. Angesichts des Umfangs und der gesellschaftlichen Relevanz der Aufgaben, die in Deutschland von Nonprofit-Organisationen wahrgenommen werden und angesichts der hohen Anzahl von Menschen, die im Nonprofit-Sektor ehrenamtlich tätig sind — größtenteils als ehrenamtliche Vorstandsmitglieder — gilt die Tätigkeit als Vorstand als eine der verantwortlichsten Tätigkeiten von Ehrenamtlichen überhaupt. Allerdings hat die Kritik an der Qualität ihrer Arbeit in den vergangenen Jahren stark zugenommen. Wenn etwas schiefläuft, lautet die erste Frage zumeist: „Wo war eigentlich der Vorstand?“
