Geschlechterpolitik im europäischen Einigungsprojekt

Zusammenfassung

Nach dem europäischen Ursprungsmythos — dem zweieinhalb Jahrtausende datierenden „Raub der Europa“ — wurde eine phönizische Prinzessin namens Europa von dem als Stier getarnten Zeus geraubt und über das Meer nach Kreta verschleppt, wo sie ihm drei Söhne und künftige Herrscher im antiken Griechenland gebar. In zahllosen anthropologischen, literarischen und künstlerischen, psychoanalytischen wie religiösen Interpretationen wurde diese Legende in immer wieder neuen historischen Varianten als Symbolisierung des Übergangs von matrilinearen Gesellschaften zu Formen des Patriarchats gedeutet (Passerini 2002). Im Europa des 20. Jahrhunderts gewann der Mythos der Europa freilich völlig neue politische Bedeutungsdimensionen: während einige die Erzählung als Kampf Europas gegen den Nazismus deuteten, lasen andere sie als Geschichte der Emanzipation der europäischen Frauen, die, ohne antike Formen ihrer Macht aufgeben zu wollen, neue dazu gewannen. Zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts befasst sich die europäische Geschlechterforschung erneut mit der Frage, wie sich die Geschlechterpolitik unter den postnationalen Bedingungen europäischen Regierens neu interpretieren lässt. Wie können geschlechterpolitische Dimensionen des europäischen Einigungsprojektes sichtbar gemacht werden?
