Abstract
The traditional approach to manufacturing has been to view it as a sequence of individual steps. Competitive pressures have however exposed the shortcomings of this view and compelled modern manufacturing enterprises to adopt a system approach, in which the various manufacturing activities form part of an interacting dynamic system.
