Zusammenfassung
Die Literatur zum Verhältnis von Bildungs- und Beschäftigungssystem ist durch bemerkenswerte Diskrepanzen in den Aussagen zur längerfristigen Entwicklung dieses Verhältnisses gekennzeichnet. Befragt man Vertreter der klassischen Modernisierungs- und Industrialisierungstheorie, so werden sie viele Argumente vorbringen, weshalb die Perspektiven für die berufliche Zukunft von Individuen zunehmend durch die Schule geprägt werden. Treiman (1970) beispielsweise, der die Mechanismen dieses Szenarios am explizitesten beschrieben hat, nennt als zentrale Triebkräfte dieser Entwicklung zunehmenden Wettbewerb und Rationalisierungsdruck, die wachsenden Betriebsgrößen und ihre bürokratische Arbeitsorganisation sowie die fortschreitende wissenschaftliche und technische Durchdringung der Produktionsprozesse. Langfristig überleben nur die Betriebe, die sich in der Personalrekrutierung an der „meritokratischen Logik“ (Lutz 1991, allerdings in kritischer Diktion) orientieren.1 Die Argumente sind in vielem deckungsgleich mit Vorstellungen gegenwärtiger Globalisierungsszenarien.
