Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff „Sozialkapital“ ist eine Art Modebegriff geworden, in der öffentlichen Debatte und in den Sozialwissenschaften. Der folgende Beitrag wird daher den Versuch unternehmen, beide Dimensionen des Konzepts mit einzubeziehen — das analytische Konstrukt und seine Verschränkung mit öffentlich debattierten gesellschaftspolitischen Erwägungen. Aus demselben Grunde steht dabei auch jenes spezielle Konzept von Sozialkapital im Zentrum, das in akademischen Kreisen ebenso wie in der Öffentlichkeit das stärkste Echo fand — die Arbeit Robert Putnams.1 Ich werde zunächst in kurzer Form Putnams Ansatz referieren, um deutlich zu machen, welches Verständnis seines Konzepts die Basis für meine spätere kritische Analyse bildet.
