Zusammenfassung

Die achtziger Jahre haben in der Bundesrepublik zu einer Verfestigung von Massenarbeitslosigkeit auf einem Niveau geführt, wie es vorgängig nur in der Weimarer Republik und den dreißiger Jahren erreicht worden ist. Damit einhergehend stabilisierte sich Langzeitarbeitslosigkeit, die — selbst wenn sie durch häufige Veränderungen der Erfassungskriterien der Arbeitsmarktstatistik für die öffentliche Rezeption kontinuierlich nach unten korrigiert wurde — inzwischen beträchtliche Ausmaße angenommen hat.

Belastungen sind bei jenen, die sich vorwiegend selbst die Schuld geben, deutlich höher.Ein weiterer wichtiger Moderator ist in der Erwartung zu sehen, die eigene Lage auf dem Arbeitsmarkt kontrollieren zu können, d.h. durch eigene Anstrengungen wieder einen Arbeitsplatz zu finden. Personen, die eine in diesem Sinne hohe Kontrollerwartung haben, zeigen niedrigere Depressionswerte oder geringere Belastungen, wenn diese jedoch arbeitslos bleiben, übersteigen ihre Werte jene von Arbeitslosen mit geringer Kontrollerwartung.31
