Zusammenfassung
Die Integration der europäischen Börsen hat in den letzten Jahren aufgrund des fortschreitenden Wettbewerbs zwischen den nationalen Börsen untereinander sowie den aufstrebenden ATS und ausländischen Börsen stark zugenommen. Deregulierungen und technologischer Fortschritt haben die dazu notwendigen Rahmenbedingungen geschaffen.1020 In diesem Wettbewerbsumfeld sind Kooperationen und Allianzen notwendig, um die beschriebenen Netzwerkeffekte und Skalenerträge durch Überschreiten der kritischen Masse auszunutzen und die technologische Entwicklung der börslichen Handelssysteme zu forcieren. Ein Beispiel für einen Merger ist die Eurex, welche durch eine Fusion der Handelsplattformen und Märkte geschaffen wurde, nicht aber durch die Errichtung einer gemeinsamen Börsenorganisation.1021
