Zusammenfassung

“Second independence”, “second wind of change”, “virtual miracle” — dies waren die geschichtsträchtigen Schlagworte, mit denen der „historische Wendepunkt“ (Rainer Tetzlaff), die “rebirth of political freedom” (Richard Joseph) zu Beginn der 1990er Jahre nach kurzer Zeit schon gewürdigt wurde. Die Schlagworte bezeichneten Erwartungen und Versprechen für eine bessere, gleichsam neue Zukunft Afrikas.
