Abstract

The task to describe and interpret the evolution of urban sociology in the last fifty years seems almost like ‚mission impossible‘. Nevertheless, a comparative study of the development of the discipline in various countries and regions is quite tempting. Among other things, it can help to overcome the deficit of communication between urban sociologists, who work on similar questions but in different parts of the world.
